@ Play the scene: "Casablanca"

This time, we'll travel to the American black and white cinema of the 40's: "Casablanca" . Before you play the scene (min. 00:17:26 to 00:18:12 in the original film), follow these recommendations:

1. This romantic drama happens at a time of wars in Europe and it has a historical background that first, we have to study to understand. Answer these questions:

a. Where is Casablanca on a map? Was it a colony in the 40's? Who did it belong to?
b. What was happening in Europe at that time?
c. Who was "Vichy" and what did his regime consist in?
d. What kind of refugees used to wait in Casablanca for a chance to reach the still neutral country of the USA?

2.  Now have a look to the script and repeat (this part of the film is between min. 00:17:26 and 00:18:12)

3. Remember some of the difficult vocabulary that appears on the dialogue. Are the following definitions right or wrong? Correct the wrong ones:

a. to spill:   triunfar, tener éxito en algo
b. a word of advice:   un consejo
c. to furnish:   derramar (soltar un secreto en este caso)
d. to succeed in:   proporcionar
e. duty:   deber

4. Now PLAY THE SCENE with your classmate. See the example...
