Did you know that the mop is a Spanish invention? 

Let's see some human inventions on this timeline which were developped during the Industrial Revolution and then, have a look to the task you'll have to do about the subject.

Ready to work now in groups? Your objective will be to learn how the e-tool, (timerime.com) works and to make your own timelime on a specific subject with these steps.

STEP 1

• What  do youn know about the Industrial Revolution? Write a few lines (6-7) about it showing the time it happened (century) and the historical causes that provoked it.

• What do all the industrial inventions appearing on the timeline mean? Make a list with all their equivalents in Spanish with the e-tool wordreference.

STEP 2: making a timeline

• Brainstorming: talk to your work group and decide about the subject you are going to treat on your timeline.
• Choose 5 or 7 items to put on your timeline
• Go to wikipedia and other internet historic resources to find enough information about events and dates

@ The years in English

How do you name the new years of the present century like 2012, 2001? Are they named the same way as 1801, 1802, 1820...? And the year 1004? Everytime we study how to name the years in 2ºESO, I realize that the way we read years is a little complicated in English and for foreign learners it can be confusing and ambiguous.

YEARS ...most common pronunciation:

• en 235 --> in two thirty-five
  
• en 1000 --> in one thousand
• en 1.004 --> in one thousand and four / in ten oh-four
  
• en 1050 --> in ten fifty
  
• en 1225 --> in twelve twenty-five (normal rule)
• en 1900 --> in nineteen hundred / in nineteen aught
• en 1901 --> in nineteen oh-one
